Center-beam cars are specialty cars designed for carrying building supplies such as cut wood, lumber, or drywall sheets. They are essentially bulkhead flatcars that have been reinforced with additional central supports for the side-loading of bulk materials. Performs best on 22′ radius curves or greater.
