Durango and Silverton was originally a mining supply line and due to its scenic location also became sought after as route for tourists. The Durango and Silverton has survived natural disasters, financial woes and has played host to several Hollywood films. The Durango and Silverton is now a National Historic landmark and it’s continued operation is due to visiting tourists and a devoted staff.
