PILLBUG MOVEMENT

The Pillbug moves like the queen bee, advancing one space at a time. However, it possesses a unique ability that allows it to influence the game in an unprecedented way.

SPECIAL ABILITY OF THE PILLBUG

Instead of moving, the Pillbug can relocate an adjacent unstacked piece—whether it belongs to you or your opponent—two spaces. This involves moving the piece onto the Pillbug itself and then down into an empty adjacent space.

LIMITATIONS OF THE PILLBUG ABILITY

There are specific exceptions to the Pillbug’s movement ability: it cannot move the piece that was most recently moved by the opponent, nor can it move pieces from a stack. Additionally, it must adhere to the One Hive Rule and cannot split the hive during movement.

STRATEGIC IMPACT ON THE GAME

Any piece moved (either directly or by the Pillbug) becomes immobile for the next player’s turn, unable to move or use special abilities. Notably, the mosquito can replicate the Pillbug’s movement or ability even if the Pillbug has been rendered immobile by another.
